Manufacturing Engineer Intern:
Participating in developing new or improving existing processes – For existing processes this involves using lean tools like process mapping, facilitating kaizen events, benchmarking best industry practices, and coordinating collaborative R&D activities with internal team members and external suppliers. New processes have a higher degree of external R&D and the M.E. often becomes the internal SME (subject matter expert) as the lead representing NyproMold with vendors during the selection and review process. They are included in the decision‐making process and manage the implementation coordinating both internal and external activities until the project is successfully completed.
•Training and employee development – Developing our team is critical to our sustainability and growth. This aspect of the position can range from one on one or small group direct training of employees on a particular skill to researching the industry for the best training materials and processes then conveying that to our standard training collection in a usable format.
•Production support – The core of our business is successfully executing in production. In the improving of the existing and implementation of new processes one of the best ways to really understand it is by hands on doing it. Developing hands on skills across multiple parts of the business enables the M.E. to fully understand the interaction and interdependence of the different departments. This knowledge assists in the ability to see and develop opportunities for holistic improvement. At times there is also a need for raw production support to get projects complete and out the door. Hands on production support to fill gaps or bolster high demand is an essential part of the position.
