ABOUT THE CHAMBER: The North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic membership-based, volunteer-led organization focused on advancing North Central Massachusetts. The Chamber has nearly 650 member firms that employ over 45,000 people in twenty-seven communities located in the region. The Chamber has been recognized among the top chambers of commerce in the country for its impact and operations. Among its many honors, the Chamber is 5-star accredited and was the recipient of the prestigious National Chamber of the Year award in 2023, the first chamber in New England to receive the honor. Our small, collaborative team is building new systems for how we serve members, and this is an exciting time to join.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Membership Development Coordinator is often the first conversation a local business has with the Chamber. This role is responsible for identifying, engaging, and enrolling new member businesses across North Central Massachusetts, helping owners and managers understand how membership can help them get noticed, get connected, and grow.

Working within the Marketing & Membership team alongside the Member Services Coordinator and the Marketing & Communications Coordinator, this role carries out the Chamber’s day-to-day membership recruitment under the direction of the Marketing & Membership Manager, managing the new member pipeline from first contact through a smooth handoff for onboarding, along with follow-up on overdue member accounts. The role is suited to a self-starter who proactively creates opportunities rather than waiting for them, and who follows a disciplined, systems-driven sales process. This is a results-driven role with clear weekly and monthly goals, built on a consultative, relationship-first approach that brings in members who are a good fit and who will stay. The position is a step up from entry level, suited to someone with some sales or people-facing experience who is ready to grow in business development.

OUR CORE VALUES: The Chamber hires for alignment with its core values as much as for skills and experience. In this role, our values look like this:

  • Integrity: Sells honestly and recommends the membership that truly fits, not simply the largest one; honors every commitment made to prospects and members
  • Excellence: Delivers a polished, professional experience from the first conversation through the handoff to onboarding
  • Focus: Works the plan, meets goals, and uses results to adjust the approach
  • Catalytic Leadership: Connects businesses to the people, resources, and opportunities that help them and the region grow
  • Inclusion: Reaches out to businesses of every size, sector, community, and background across the region
  • Innovation: Looks for new and better ways to find, reach, and engage prospective members
